You likely know this week marks the 50th anniversary of the US Supreme Court decision in Gideon v Wainwright.
Gideon stands for the proposition that indigent defendants charged with felonies in state courts must be appointed counsel.
The Constitution Project produced a documentary (funded by the Ford Foundation) to commemorate this anniversary and comment on the current state of indigent defense in America.

ICDP HONORS DECEASED PARTY ACTIVISTS
Did you know that the Ingham County Democrats make a contribution each month to the Greater Lansing Food Bank in honor of a former party activist who has recently passed away? Contributions are made by members at our monthly meetings.
In March the party honored Joe Finkbeiner and Sadayshi Omoto.
Mr. Finkbeiner was a political activist and served on the ICDP Board. He worked long hour in doing grass roots organizing for the party.
Mr. Omoto served two terms as Meridian Township Supervisor during his tenure as professor at MSU.
A total of $65 was contributed by members in their names.
